MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 20, 2013—CPP, Inc.. (CPP.com), an industry leader in research, training, and organizational development tools announces the 70th anniversary of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment, the world’s most popular personality assessment.
“We’re commemorating not only the Myers-Briggs® assessment but the inestimable contributions of CPP’s customers and their dedication to improving the people within their organizations,” said Jeff Hayes, President and CEO, CPP, Inc. “As part of this celebration, we’re encouraging our customers, distributors, fans, and friends to share their stories about how the MBTI assessment has helped them to be better, on a special website—MBTIparty.com.”
Since becoming the exclusive publisher of the Myers-Briggs assessment in 1975, CPP has worked tirelessly to keep the product family “Forever Young.” This effort has included continual research to ensure the instrument’s validity and reliability, ongoing innovation in how it is delivered, and collaboration with top workplace psychologists to develop new applications for its rich insights.
The personality type journey: from theory to real-life benefits
Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers’ goal in developing the MBTI instrument was to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives. Formally introduced by Myers in 1943, the groundbreaking personality assessment was the beginning of the fulfillment of a vision that continues to play out in countless constructive ways. Since that time its insights have been helping military troops transition back to civilian life, team members communicate better, married couples understand each other, students gain better clarity about their future, leaders inspire their teams…the list goes on.
Celebrating truly global impact
Over the past 70 years the influence of the Myers-Briggs instrument has become truly global in scope. It is now used in more than 100 countries, has translations in more than 20 languages, and is used by the world’s top organizations, including Southwest Airlines and Fortune 500 companies.
“One of the wonderful things about the Myers-Briggs assessment is its power in bridging the gaps that separate people,” said Hayes. “Among the numerous ways organizations are using it, one of the most striking applications involves addressing the cultural and generational gaps that pose significant challenges for today’s global organizations.”
What’s your Myers-Briggs® story?
To celebrate the anniversary, CPP has launched a special commemorative website featuring inspiring stories from people who have used insights from the Myers-Briggs assessment to improve their lives.
