Innovative New Products to Develop Leaders

Take your company into the future with the CPI 260™ assessment

"CPP has a long history of publishing psychological assessments and related materials, but about five years ago, the company made a strategic decision to focus on the training and development and human resources markets," says David Donnay, CPP divisional director of research. One of the most successful results of this focus is the introduction of the CPI 260 assessment. A shortened version of the California Psychological Inventory™ (CPI™) assessment, the CPI 260™ assessment turns this long-respected resource into a leadership development tool for today's organizations through the generation of two powerful reports-the Client Feedback Report and the Coaching Report for Leaders.

The Client Feedback Report provides a snapshot of an individual's scores on the assessment using an accessible graphic format. "This report summarizes the principle findings of the results and places the individual in one of four style quadrants," says Donnay, "but there are meatier results: interpersonal, self-management, styles of motivation and thinking, and action orientation. Work-related scales measure things like leadership and creativity." Users of the older CPI™ product will recognize it as an updated report that compares individuals to the general population.

"The Coaching Report for Leaders gave us an opportunity to develop something that was written in the coaching voice," continues Donnay. The beauty of this report is that it is able to compare individual preferences and styles with the preferences and styles of proven leaders, thanks to Sam Manoogian, an independent consultant and lead author of the report, and an alliance with the Center for Creative Leadership.

"The Coaching Report is purely narrative," says Manoogian. "The point was to give readers something they don't need special training to read. It talks about work function and not psychological makeup and is written in the language of business." Based on comparisons with assessment results for a large database of effective leaders, the report also gives suggestions about how individuals can improve their skills. "Everybody's got development areas," says Manoogian, "and this report is designed to identify those in a nonjudgmental voice and then to help the leaders address them."

"More than ever before, organizations need to identify who their leaders are," says Donnay. "The CPI 260™ assessment is a powerful tool because it can not only identify those leaders but also help develop them so that companies can move into the future."

The CPI 260™ instrument may be administered only by a qualified practitioner. Ask CPP how your organization can qualify or find an experienced and qualified consultant.
