Team Building
Team building is one of the most powerful applications of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment, but the Strong Interest Inventory®, FIRO®, and TKI assessments are also rich resources on which to base team-building activities.
Any team-building activities start with self-awareness and positions each individual to think about ways in which he or she is similar to or different from other members of the team. (For more on this, read Rich Thompson’s article “For a More Flexible Workforce, Hire Self-Aware People” in the Harvard Business Review.)
To discover a simple team-building exercise with step-by-step instructions using the MBTI assessment, take a look at this guest blog post by Barbara Stein on CPP Connect. This wonderful post also provides an overview of what’s contained in the MBTI® Teambuilding Program: Leader’s Resource Guide, which in addition to being an in-depth guide to team building offers a wealth of team-building activities.
Additionally, if you’d like your team-building activity to incorporate conflict resolution, this blog from Pamela Valencia outlines an engaging activity incorporating the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) that’s easy to modify for small or large groups.
Team building in general can have an enormous impact on a company’s bottom line. If you would like to learn more about team building and how CPP’s assessments can provide you with the tools you need to improve your team’s efficiency, feel free to contact us at custserv@cpp.com.
