CPP Professional Services Launches New Employee Retention Offering

Combination of assessments, training tools, and consulting services is tailored for positive impact on organizational retention efforts

San Diego, CA June 20, 2005 - CPP, Inc., is pleased to announce a new Professional Services offering that will help organizations of all sizes increase employee satisfaction and reduce turnover. At the heart of the new service is an Organizational Effectiveness Survey™ instrument administered by CPP consultants. The survey measures the value of a company’s human capital, identifies its key workforce strengths and development opportunities, and provides the foundation for a strategic retention plan. CPP’s consultants can then leverage a suite of assessments, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) instrument, to better understand employees’ attitudes toward change, conflict, decision making, and communication. These insights enable organizations to develop and implement programs for more effective human capital management (HCM).

Properly implemented employee retention programs that focus on improving interactions within workgroups while maximizing individual employee job satisfaction are proven to have far-reaching effects on organizational performance. Recent research conducted by The Gallup Organization shows that companies with above-average employee satisfaction ratings have 22% higher productivity and 37% higher profits than their lower-rated competitors.

“For almost 50 years, clients have used assessment tools like our MBTI instrument to gain valuable insight into their organizations’ workgroup dynamics,” notes CPP consultant Sherrie Haynie, M.Ed. “Now our Professional Services trainers can help these clients bridge the gap from intellectual insight to the creation of actionable and effective retention programs that boost employee satisfaction.”

Too often, retention efforts have been limited primarily to the fields of compensation, benefits management, and recognition. CPP’s retention offering goes beyond these baselines to help companies uncover the interpersonal relationship issues that influence workforce satisfaction and to develop training initiatives that raise satisfaction levels. The positive results of these efforts can be measured in terms of hiring costs, training costs, productivity, and profitability.

Baptist Health Care of Pensacola, Florida, one of CPP’s longtime clients, learned the value of this strategic approach firsthand. Prompted by an industry survey ranking its patient satisfaction level near the bottom nationally, Baptist’s views on employee retention practices underwent a sea change as the organization realized the impact low staff morale and high turnover had on patient satisfaction. Working with CPP and its MBTI instrument, Baptist began a multiyear program that ultimately reduced its turnover from 33% to 13% and raised its patient satisfaction ranking to first. Baptist also garnered a Baldrige Award along with national recognition from Fortune, Training, and CIO magazines.

According to Brian Jones, director of people development for Baptist, “The Myers-Briggs® assessment taught our managers to avoid spatial blindness—the belief that ‘everyone is just like me.’ ” This is just one of many success stories that prompted CPP to develop a retention-specific offering.
